How to use Pu'er tea needles

To use your Pu'er tea needle, hold your tea cake firmly and insert the tea needle horizontally into the side of the tea cake about 1 inch. Now, gently pry open the desired tea leaves, collect them in a cup or pot, and use them to make tea.

It is important not to insert the tea needle straight down or in the direction of your hand. The purpose of the tea needle is to loosen the leaves slightly rather than completely cutting the leaves from the cake, so you'll need a little help from your hands.
